Linda Rogers, Victoria, BC, CANADA, Victoria Poetry Day

23 April 2011
Victoria Poetry Day
The Planet Earth

Dear Mailarta
You asked for a poem and I want
to mail it naked,transparent, a
letter as clear as glass that will
bring you the fingerprints of everyone
who touches it — the way you touch
us with your beautiful fingers that
reach through the slot, both sides
of the door. That would be the poet,
the postal clerk, the postman or
lady — who cares which is which;
we are rain becoming rain again,
ink running, lipstick fading on the
flap. sealed with kisses, every stamp
a kiss. Sure, we got it. You want us
to send our love, and we do, every time.

Love, Linda, Victoria poet laureate
